Persona 5

Atlus held a new livestream for its upcoming release in Japan of Persona 5. The presentation, which was prefaced by yesterday's collection of gameplay footage, featured various new announcements about both the game itself as well as some side-projects and its upcoming marketing campaigns.

The main event began by showing the game's full opening animation, as well as the game's introduction sequence which features an attempted heist by the protagonist at a casino. After being captured, the protagonist is interrogated by two male officers and then by Sae Niijima. Here it shows the name input and difficulty selection options, with four difficulties available: Safety, Easy, Normal, and Hard. After the interrogation, the velvet room music starts to play, with a voice talking to the protagonist who then wakes up on board a train.

The stream then began going through various announcements. A Persona 5 manga will begin publication in Japan in September. It will be joined in that month by the first airing of Persona 5 The Animation: The Day Breakers which is confirmed for September 3, 2016. A trailer for the animation was shown, but its official upload is country-restricted. The game will also receive new TV commericals for its playable characters, with one being released each week for the next eight weeks until its launch. The first video, available online now, focuses on the game's main hero.

The stream then returned to the game, showing the ability of Morgana to transform into a van. The protagonists can drive this van to various places, with the game showing a cutscene of it being used to travel to a desert location. The game will be playable at various locations in Japan from July 31, 2016 through to August 27, 2016 before also being playable at this year's Tokyo Game Show in September. In other Persona-themed events, a new concert will be held on November 27, 2016, and a 20th anniversary festival for the series will held from December 8-12, 2016. Finally, the livestream showed various minor characters that players will interactive with in various parts of the game.

Persona 5 is due out in Japan for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on September 15, 2016. The game is set for release in North America on those same platforms on February 14, 2017, with its European release being handled by Deep Silver, though no date has been given at this time.
