New media and details are available for the latest title in Gust's long-running alchemy series, Atelier Sophie: Alchemist of the Mysterious Book. The media shows both new battle options and another group of characters for the game, which is coming to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita in Japan on September 25, 2015. No announcement has yet been made regarding a western release.

Sophie's teacher, Plachta, a book that transforms into human form, will be able to take part in battles after regaining some of her memories through completing recipes. As an alchemist, Plachta is able to use various items in battle and while she is not particularly strong, she has access to both a powerful weapon and magic skills from her book. The game also features Chain Link skills, which are cooperative abilities between party members. Chain Links require the character to be in the same battle stance and for a gauge to have been sufficiently filled. The various Chain Links available have either defensive or offensive uses.

Finally, there are three newly revealed characters that can join Sophie on her adventures. Julio Sebald Leidenschaft is a 19-year-old knight from a neighbouring country called Adarett, with a soft and sincere personality who wields a sword. Fritz Weissberg is a 51-year-old doll maker and former mercenary. Generally dependable and calm, Fritz dual-wields swords in combat. Finally, Leon is a 24-year-old traveling tailor. She is confident in her skills, but often seems to push others away. During battle she uses a spear as well as jamming items.
