Project Eternity

Obsidian, the developer of many classic RPGs, has been running a countdown for the last few days hinting at the announcement of a new game. That countdown has just completed, and the company has revealed Project Eternity, which it will be funding through its new Kickstarter project.

Project Eternity will be a party-based isometric RPG set in an original fantasy world. It will be built in the image of the old Infinity Engine games such as Baldur's Gate, Icewind dale, or Planescape: Torment, and will feature many elements from those games, such as the real-time combat system. Not too much else is known about the game as the only setting and story information Obsidian has provided is a world map and some scraps of text.

Obsidian is hoping to raise $1,100,000 with the Kickstarter project, and have already raised more than $100,000 as of the writing of this article. Many different pledge rewards are being offered, including a limited number of chances to get a downloadable digital copy of the game for only $20, soundtracks and boxed copies of the game for higher pledge values, or even the chance to name and design NPCs, weapons, or taverns with pledges of $1000 or more.
