Nintendo has begun a series of events to promote the latest entry to the Dragon Quest series, Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies. As well as retail promotion, these events promise some special treasure maps available to attendees, and the opportunity to take advantage of Dragon Quest IX's "Tag Mode."

The first of these events took place in select GameStop stores between 1pm and 4pm on Saturday, 31 July. The next scheduled event is being hosted by Best Buy between 12pm and 4pm on Saturday, 7 August. This Saturday also marks the start of events occurring in mall locations, starting in Boston, Massachusetts' Emerald Square.
