The long-running single-player gamebook series by Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson that begin in the early 1980s is now making the shift to video games. Aspyr Media will be publishing Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, a DS first-person action RPG developed by Big Blue Bubble, this holiday season.

With the DS release, players will fill the role of a solo adventurer traveling through an ancient keep within Firetop Mountain. Gamers will explore dungeons and passages while developing their character however they wish in terms of combat style. There will be a drag-and-drop inventory system to make use of the DS stylus.

The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is the setting of the first book in Livingstone and Jackson's series. For those not familiar with what a single-player gamebook is, imagine a book where every section ends with you having to make a choice of what to do next, such as which direction to turn and whether or not to fight.
