The newest release from Mistwalker, Blue Dragon Plus for the Nintendo DS, is coming to North America in March 2009. This pseudo-sequel to the 2007 Xbox 360 RPG Blue Dragon will be brought over by Ignition Entertainment.
Like the Xbox 360 game before it, Blue Dragon Plus is directed by Hironobu Sakaguchi with designs by Akira Toriyama and a soundtrack by Nobuo Uematsu. A year has passed since the end of the last game and now Shu and his companions must deal with new turmoil and the evil Shadow of the three-headed dragon Balaur.
Unlike the original, this game is a real-time tactical RPG with unit-based combat. Players control up to sixteen units consisting of humans and Mecha Robos. Characters are able to equip items to boost stats and Mecha Robos can be customized as the player desires.
"We are thrilled to be able to take Blue Dragon Plus to market," stated Ajay Chadha, Ignition Entertainment President. "Out-of-the-box thinking and effective marketing are the cornerstones of our success, and this acquisition relays our standing commitment to that. Clearly our partners have as much faith in Ignition as we have in their products!"
