Scans from the upcoming issue of Shonen Jump seem to indicate that remakes of Dragon Quest IV, Dragon Quest V, and Dragon Quest VI are in progress, with Dragon Quest IV on track for a winter release in Japan. These scans seem to confirm earlier hints strategically dropped by Square Enix preident Yoichi Wada, who remarked that earlier Dragon Quest games might be released before Dragon Quest IX.

The scans show a switch from the original 2D graphics to an updated 3D style, perhaps similar to the treatment given to the DS release of Final Fantasy III. North American gamers will have to wait to celebrate, because release outside of Japan has yet to be confirmed. Expect further details to follow from Square Enix after the official release of the next issue of Shonen Jump.
