Guild Wars has been around for over two years, boasting over 3.5 million copies sold. While content has expanded repeatedly for this MMORPG with new campaigns, players have asked for the main game to expand. NCSoft is more than happy to oblige with Guild Wars' first expansion: Eye of the North.

Players will return to Tyria once again, expanding on the story of the original Guild Wars. 18 new, multi-level dungeons will open up. Another addition will be treasure maps, giving a player something to look for. There will also be 150 new skills, 50 of them dedicated to co-op play, and 40 new sets of armor spread across the game's 10 classes.

Since NCSoft has already announced the sequel to Guild Wars, the expansion is able to be a transition from the first game to the second. A new Hall of Monuments will allow players to record their overall accomplishments, including earned titles, weapons, and pets. These will open up special items in Guild Wars 2 and will be the only way to receive them.

The new races announced for Guild Wars 2 will be evident in this expansion as well. Heroes representing old and new races will require player's aid, further bridging the gap between the two games.

Guild Wars: Eye of the North will be released on August 31 in all regions Guild Wars is currently available. It is not yet rated by the ESRB, but other Guild Wars titles are rated "T" for Teen.
