During events which took place in Japan and America early this morning, the presidents of Nintendo and Nintendo of America unveiled the details of the company's upcoming Wii console, as well as letting RPG fans know what they should expect to see as the console arrives. The release lists and presentations given by Satoru Iwata and Reggie Fils-Aime contained a few unexpected additions as well as further details on other games.

The flagship title for the system, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, was reconfirmed as a day-one launch title for the system in both Japan and North America -- in Japan, the game will come out on December 2nd, and in North America on November 19th. Also, Twilight Princess will be joined at launch in Japan by Pokemon Battle Revolution, which will feature wireless connectivity with the DS installments.

The company also announced that the GameCube version of Zelda has been delayed and will not ship to retailers until December 11th. This means that gamers who don't want to wait to experience Link's latest adventure will have only the Wii version available.

Intelligent Systems' tenth entry in the Fire Emblem series has finally gotten an official name and release timeframe. The sequel to last year's Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance will be entitled Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn and will see release in Japan in February of 2007.

Meanwhile, Intelligent Systems' final GameCube game, the RPG/platforming hybrid Super Paper Mario, has been canceled in its current form. The game will instead be appearing on the Wii as an exclusive and will release sometime in 2007.

Namco Bandai has revealed the name of the previously untitled RPG that the company announced during E3. The game will now be dubbed Sword of Legendia. No further details were released by the company about the game, nor were Namco Bandai executives on hand to clarify whether or not the game will bear any relation to its Tales of Legendia.

Additionally, three other companies announced new RPGs, though no names or details were released. Konami, Koei, and From Software will all be contributing new RPGs to the Wii. Amongst RPG fans, Konami is most well known for its Suikoden, Castlevania, and Azure Dreams franchises, while From Software is responsible for the just-released Xbox 360 title Enchanted Arms, as well as the GameCube's Lost Kingdoms series.

Finally, Nintendo aired commentary and interviews from several high profile RPG developers offering praise of the console and its remote controller, including Square Enix's Akitoshi Kawazu (the executive producer of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers) and Yasumi Matsuno (director, writer, and producer for Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy Tactics) -- though the latter did not reveal any games currently in development and appears to have left his position as a producer at Square Enix.

While Nintendo will not be in attendance, next week's Tokyo Game Show may bring more details from Namco Bandai, Konami, Koei, and From Software. RPGamer will keep readers updated on the news as it develops.
