The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Today, Nintendo announced that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will not ship worldwide until 2006. The delay from its scheduled Holiday 2005 release is to allow for more development time to add more content that the company felt the game needed. Unfortunately, this means that Zelda will be missing what would seem like the final large Christmas selling season for the Gamecube, since the Revolution will be launching in 2006, which will be capable of playing Gamecube titles.

"Our development team has decided to take extra time to add some incredible new elements to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess," a Nintendo of Europe statement explained. "As a result, the game will now launch in 2006 globally. We recognise there may be some disappointed fans, however we firmly believe this additional time will result in a much more enjoyable gaming experience. GameCube fans will have a variety of Nintendo games to choose from this Christmas, including Mario Smash Football, Battalion Wars, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness."

Nintendo is doing its best to soften the blow with seven new screens. RPGamer will continue to report on new details for the Zelda series as they're announced.
