Three New RPGs Unveiled at Xbox Summit

Xbox 360

Today in greater Tokyo, Japan, Microsoft held Xbox Summit 2005. At this event, 45 titles were unveiled for the Xbox 360. Of these titles, three of them were announced as roleplaying games. A traditional RPG from Konami, a strategy RPG from Success Corp., and a fantasy RPG from Namco.

Far East of Eden: Tengai Makyou Ziria was the first title to be unveiled. Hudson, the developer of the title, has opened the title's official site, which currently only has the logo, some game info, and a piece of art.

The second title, Operation Darkness, is being developed by Success Corp. for a scheduled 2006 release. This strategy RPG takes place in a fictitious world with historical events scattered in the story. Operation Darkness will support both Xbox Live and High-definition. The game's official site has also been opened, though currently the page only has a logo, some game information, and the official announcement in both Japanese and English.

The third, and final RPG announced today, is an untitled fantasy RPG from Namco, to be developed by Tales Studio. While this may have some people assuming this is a new title in the long-running Tales series, Namco was quick to point out that this would be an original fantasy roleplaying experience.

Microsoft also mentioned that while the North American launch of the Xbox 360 would take place in November as previously announced, European and Japanese markets would see the console's launch before the holiday season has ended. RPGamer will report on new details about these and all upcoming Xbox 360 developments as they are announced.
