With all the hubbub this week surrounding the announcement of the new handheld PlayStation platform, a small revelation by Square Enix at the meeting nearly slipped under the radar. Apparently, the newest addition to the Final Fantasy line will be making its debut appearance at the Tokyo Game Show this coming September.

It has also been hinted that Final Fantasy XII will be primarily an offline title. An official announcement has not been made to this end, however, and it still leaves room for a significant, but optional component of PlayOnline functionality. We'll cover more as progress on this title develops and any important bits that might be forthcoming from Tokyo.
