Just several days after the Japanese release of Golden Sun, Famitsu has reported that its sequel is scheduled to be released in 2002 in Japan. Golden Sun: The Lost Age, which is the game's tentative English title, is being developed by Camelot, whose past accolades include Mario Tennis, Mario Golf 64, and the Shining Force strategy RPG series.

Details of the new game have yet to be revealed, and there was no announcement for the game's release on North American shores at this point. The original Golden Sun, which should be released in North America sometime in the near future, features a multiplayer option and a turn-based battle system with a tactical spin.
