Recently, Square announced that they will be releasing enhanced versions
of Final Fantasy 1, 2, and 3 on the Wonderswan. Originally released for
the NES in America, only Final Fantasy made it to North American shores.
In addition to the Final Fantasy titles, Square has also announced they
will be doing a few original titles for the handheld system, one of which
being the wacky cultivation sim, Working
Chocobo.
Hopefully Square can squeeze all the life it can out of Bandai's little
monochrome console to create games just as memorable as those on the PlayStation
or even the Super NES. As to why Square did not use the Game Boy Color as the medium for
this Final Fantasy re-release is unknown, however this writer is sure that
importing fans won't be let down. The re-release is only for Japan as of this
moment, however, if the Wonderswan is ever announced for North American release,
RPGamer will keep you posted on the possibility of a
North American conversion.
