At the Sega Fes 2018 event being held in Tokyo this weekend, Sega announced that Valkyria Chronicles will be released on the Nintendo Switch this fall in Japan. It will be a digital-only title on the Nintendo eShop and, like the remaster on PlayStation 4 and PC, the Switch version will include all of the original game's downloadable content.
Meanwhile, the Switch version of Valkyria Chronicles 4 has been delayed in Japan from its previously announced release window of summer 2018 to fall 2018. The Japanese release of Valkyria Chronicles 4 on the Switch will include a coupon code to purchase Valkyria Chronicles at a reduced price. There is currently no information on whether the Switch version of Valkyria Chronicles will be released outside Japan or whether the delay of the Switch release of Valkyria Chronicles 4 will affect the western release date.
Valkyria Chronicles is a strategy RPG that incorporates third-person shooting mechanics into the tactical combat. It was originally released on PlayStation 3 in 2008 with a remastered version coming to PC in 2014 and PlayStation 4 in 2016. Valkyria Chronicles 4 is set to release this fall in North America and Europe on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
