Nintendo has announced that it has a release date for the first DLC pack for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The first pack, known as The Master Trials, will arrive on both the Switch and Wii U on June 30, 2017. The second pack, known as The Champions' Ballad, will arrive in the holiday season of 2017. The DLC packs can only be purchased together as part of the game's Expansion Pass.

New media was released for the The Master Trials, which sees Link attempt the Trial of the Sword, as series of forty-five rooms that, if completed, will unlock the full power of the Master Sword. Other additions include Master Mode, which increases enemy difficulty and adds new challenges, and the Hero's Path, a map function that tracks the last 200 hours of gameplay across the game map to see just how a player's journey has progressed. Smaller rewards will also be available, such as new armor pieces, a Travelling Medallion that allows for quicktravel to one specific point, and a Korok mask that will shake when near hidden Koroks.
