Stoic has just released a new, free update for The Banner Saga 2. Survival Mode, which is seperate from the story mode, is a series of forty combat-focused scenarios that the player will have to beat back-to-back.
For Survival Mode, players will build a team from existing heroes from The Banner Saga. This mode will feature perma-death, causing players to permanently lose units if they ever fall in combat. To make up for this, completing rounds of Survival Mode will reward the player with Renown that can be used to purchase items or recruit more heroes. Items will also drop during combat. Players will have to make decisions quickly, as there will be a thirty second timer for making decisions. The mode will have three difficulty modes and leaderboards.
The Banner Saga 2 is currently available on PC and Mac for $19.99/£14.99/€19.99. The game will release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on July 26, 2016. Stoic is aiming to have Survival Mode ready for the console releases.
