Deep Silver and Piranha Bytes have released a batch of new screenshots (viewable below) along with some setting details for their upcoming PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 RPG, Risen 3: Titan Lords, which is due out on August 12, 2014. The game takes place on the island of Taranis, which is now the last stronghold of the Mages and their loyal Guardians. Formerly advisers to kings, the Mages have been outlawed by the Inquisition and are now exiled to a large abbey in the mountains on Taranis.

Players control a character that is attacked under cover of darkness and has his soul taken. While attempting to retrieve this precious item, players will have the choice to join various factions such as the Guardians Guild. If they choose to join this group of ex-soldiers, players will have the chance to learn some powerful magical abilities and gain the use of the order's exclusive armour.
