Paradox Interactive has announced that their expansion for Magicka, Magicka: Vietnam, will be released on April 12. It will be found on major digital distribution channels for $4.99. In an unusual but no-doubt welcome move, as long as the host of a multiplayer game owns Magicka: Vietnam, all players will be able to access the expansion.
Magicka: Vietnam includes two new scenarios for Magicka owners. In the first, players will don the robe of a wizard GI and attempt to bring peace and stability to war-era Vietnam by casting lots of spells. They will be liberating prisoners from a Goblin-Cong POW camp, destroying enemy positions, and of course escaping to "the choppa."
The second scenario is a survival challenge map featuring increased difficulty for all those masochistic players who requested such a thing of the developers. Apparently this map involves copious amounts of napalm and other Vietnam-themed weapons, but of course the wizards will retain their dynamic spell-casting system with which they can merrily destroy both their enemies and each other.
