Square Enix's May Final Fantasy XIV update focuses on the city-state of Limsa Lominsa, the foremost maritime power of Eorzea. Limsa Lominsa is spread out over many small islands, which are connected by mighty bridges. Its economy is driven by shipbuilding, fishing, blacksmithing, and the shipping trade.

Although the Admiral, the city's ruler, employs a powerful navy called the Knights of the Barracuda, Limsa Lominsa is experiencing a pirate problem, which presumably can be addressed by adventuring player characters.

Limsa Lominsa is the home to a number of industrious guilds for player characters. The Fishermen's, Blacksmith's, Armorer's, and Marauder's guilds have particularly large presences in the city. The headquarters of the Knights of the Barracuda also offers services to players, including a shooting range. When they aren't busy in the guilds,

players can take in the local landmarks, such as the Bismark restaurant, the Mizzenmast palace, and a giant lighthouse.

Along with featuring Limsa Luminsa, the official Final Fantasy XIV website now contains a map of Eorzea. The related press release hints that the map will eventually allow viewers to explore the realm. Final Fantasy XIV is currently in Closed Alpha testing, but is slated to be released for the PC and PlayStation 3 later in 2010.
