Atlus has announced that the Game Boy Advance card-based tactical RPG, Yggdra Union, is returning on an all new portable system. The land of Fantasinia returns again this September on the PlayStation Portable. Yggdra Union was initially released late in 2006, near the end of the Game Boy Advance's life. This version promises fully remastered audio, updated artwork of famed character designer and manga artist Satoko Kiyuzuki, dual Japanese and English language voiceovers, a widescreen aspect ratio, extra difficulty settings, and new unlockable content. Yggdra Union also boasts three different endings and a secret ending along with a mix of hidden characters.
Though labeled as a strategy RPG, Yggdra Union does not fall into the cookie-cutter mold of the genre. This title blends turn-based strategy, real-time combat, and card-based gameplay into one unique package. The story focuses on a royal family in the land of Fantasinia. This peaceful kingdom is broken apart by the invading Empire of Bronquia and the young Emperor Gulcasa. Princess Yggdra Yuril Artwaltz is the sole survivor of the onslaught and escapes with the only hope for saving the kingdom: Gran Centurio, the holy sword. During her escape, she happens upon Milanor, a young man destined to help her save the kingdom.
Yggdra Union is set for a September 16 release and has yet to be rated by the ESRB. Those interested in this title can view the official web site here.
