PLAY! A Video Game Symphony

The newest stop on the PLAY! A Video Game Symphony world tour has been scheduled at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. Performed by the Symphony Silicon Valley and Chorale, PLAY! will feature music from some of the most popular video games on the market such as Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros., World of Warcraft, Sonic The Hedgehog, and Shenmue. Taking it one step further, PLAY! will also be highlighting such upcoming titles as Darkness and Mistwalker's two newest RPGs Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon.

PLAY! will not be leaving fans in the dark, as they will have massive screens above the stage to show off memorable moments of each game. The concert will last two hours and will be conducted by the Grammy Award-winning Arnie Roth. Roth has been quoted as saying "It's no secret among game lovers and connoisseurs of orchestral music that some of today's most thrilling scores are coming out of the video game genre." PLAY! producer Jason Michael Paul stated, "After the success of Dear Friends - Music from FINAL FANTASY and More Friends- Music from FINAL FANTASY in 2005 and now PLAY!, it is obvious that there is an appetite for concert presentations of video game music." With additional PLAY! concert dates being added, these statements give hope that those in areas outside of the currently scheduled performances might have an opportunity to be a part of this world tour.

Tickets for San Jose's PLAY! concert are on sale now and range from $36 to $72 per seat though better seats will be made available for $100 and will include limited edition PLAY! souvenirs. For more details, visit the official PLAY! A Video Game Symphony website.
