True Fantasy Live Online

In a statement released to owners of affiliated Xbox news sites, Microsoft has responded to the cancellation of the cel-shaded MMORPG True Fantasy Live Online. While their response confirmed that the title is completely dead with no chance of revival, it also dropped several hints that the soul of the game will continue.

When True Fantasy Live Online was cancelled, the game was "a living, breathing virtual world" ready for beta testing. Unfortunately, the developers encountered problems in creating a "stable online experience," and those problems repeatedly delayed the game.

Microsoft still holds the game's resources, such as its characters, worlds, and interface. The company refused to comment on whether those specific resources would be used in a future game, but Microsoft admitted that certain well-received elements of True Fantasy Live Online would be utilized in a future game. The statement also hinted that another Japanese-developed RPG is in development for the Xbox.
