After pausing for reflection over the past fiscal year, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada announced that the company has sold over 12.59 million copies of its games, with 10.47 million of those attributed to Square and 2.12 million for Enix.
As for what is to come, Square Enix, like any other business venture, is looking to increase its efficiency and its profit ratio. According to Wada, Final Fantasy XII will be released in Japan sometime during the next fiscal year, but Dragon Quest VIII was excluded from the budget. This does not necessarily spell doom for the next Dragon Quest title, but it instead indicates that it is not bound for store shelves anytime soon.
