Zelda Just That Darned Good

First, Entertainment Weekly rated the Legend of Zelda series the best of all time. Now, Nintendo has more tangible reasons for jubilation, after European sales of The Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker topped 300,000 units. In addition to the game's torrid sales, the company noted that sales of GameCube systems have tripled over the same time period.

With sales this strong, David Gosen, Managing Director for Nintendo of Europe, has requested new shipments of the game, which he hopes will arrive in Europe by the end of next week. In all, the game's success in Europe is rivaling that of its North American release, which is no mean task, given the comparative size of the two markets. As an added aside, more than a quarter of the sales were from the UK, where 80,000 units shipped this weekend.
