The latest game in the Sword Art Online series, Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet, releases today for PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. In addition to providing the usual launch trailer, publisher Bandai Namco also announced those who pre-ordered Fatal Bullet on Steam will receive a free PC Steam copy of Sword Art Online: Re: Hollow Fragment on March 23, 2018. Details on when Re: Hollow Fragment's Steam version will be available for individual purchase will be revealed at a later date.

Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet is being created by DIMPS, a different studio than those who made prior games in the series, and focuses on third-person shooting as opposed to the melee combat of previous titles. Sword Art Online: Re: Hollow Fragment is a port of the first Sword Art Online game to head west, which was originally released in 2014. Both games are based on the popular light novel and anime franchise, but take place in a different continuity.
