Square Enix has announced a new multiplayer action RPG in the form of Final Fantasy Explorer-Force. Coming to iOS and Android in Japan sometime in 2017, the game will be a sequel to the Nintendo 3DS title Final Fantasy Explorers and will feature many of the same mechanics as that game. Square Enix has made no announcement regarding a localized release.

The game takes place fifty years after a calamity unleashed beasts, who have taken the form of famous Final Fantasy monsters, all over the world. The International Peace Alliance, nicknamed Force, is a collection of soldiers sent to defeat the beasts in teams of up to five. Players will create their own Force member from existing Final Fantasy jobs and even gain the opportunity to temporarily transform into famous Final Fantasy characters for a short time.
