Indie Update: First Edition
01.27.2017

ALEX FULLER
MANAGING EDITOR

Indie Games

Welcome to the first in a new series of updates designed to help RPGamer cater to the ever-increasing number of indie titles that our staff regrettably does not have the resource to provide full coverage to. The idea of this column is to quickly pass on the word about certain games to our readers that they might otherwise not be made aware of, and we hope both readers and developers find this useful.

This first edition of our indie update column is a pretty hefty one and features the following titles: Narborion Saga, Hellenica Tactics, Pixel Heroes: Byte & Magic, Legrand Legacy, and Queen of Thieves.

Narborion Saga

Liver Primus Games has announced that it will be bringing Narborion Saga to PC via Steam in March 2017. The game combines fantasy gamebook and tactical combat gameplay with roguelike elements and was originally released for iOS and Android in December 2014. The PC version of the game will include all three adventures released for the mobile version, and will also include an arena mode and PvP duels.

Hellenica Tactics

The Dragonloft's turn-based tactical game Hellenica Tactics is now available on Steam and itch.io for PC and Mac. The game is set in a reimagined version of Ancient Greece that has undergone an industrial revolution. Hellenica Tactics features a branching story, a combat system that makes use of the battlefield environment, and no pants.

Pixel Heroes: Byte & Magic

Pixel Heroes: Byte & Magic is a turn-based RPG with roguelike elements and 1980s-style graphics that was originally released for PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android in 2015. Now publisher Headup Games and developer The Bitfather are bringing the game to Xbox One. The game will be released on March 3, 2017 for $9.99/£7.99/€9.99.

Legrand Legacy

Indonesian developer Semisoft previously ran a Kickstarter campaign for Legrand Legacy in late 2016 but was unsuccessful in attain its funding goals. The developer has not given up, however, and returned to Kickstarter with a new campaign. The developer is looking for £40,000 in funding by February 17, 2017, and at the time of writing is around 75% of the way to its target. Legrand Legacy is heavily inspired by PlayStation-era JRPGs, with a demo version available to try out from its Kickstarter page.

Queen of Thieves

Queen of Thieves is the latest RPG/dating-sim from developer Winter Wolves, creator of Loren the Amazon Princess and Tales of Aravorn. The game was originally released for PC, Mac, and Linux through Winter Wolves' website late last year, but the game has now also been released on Steam for $24.99/£18.99/€22.99. Queen of Thieves lets players play as one of three sisters as they investigate the possible appearance of their mother, who is long-presumed dead. The game others both male and female romance options.
