Persona 5

Atlus has released a new video for Persona 5, this time detailing the ways to contact shadows and the reasons for the Phantom Thieves dungeon-delving. This includes a more in-depth look at the Metaverse, Persona 5's alternate reality where the dungeon elements of the game will take place. Additionally, Atlus has released a ten minute sample of some of the songs on Persona 5's original soundtrack, which is now available in Japan.

Made up of the collective unconscious of all of people, the Metaverse manifests people's greatest desires as Palaces. Accessed through the Phantom Thieves' smartphones, these Palaces store people's darkest desires in the form of Treasure. Along the way the Thieives will have to solve puzzles, confront the Palace ruler, and engage shadows. This will all need to be done in a stealthy manner, as getting caught by the Palace's security too many times will result in the team getting kicked out and unable to enter until the following day.

Engaging with shadows is the most common obstacle along the way and is usually resolved by battling. But diplomacy is also an option. Holding Up a shadow will allow the player to begin a consversation that can lead to items, money, avoiding the battle, or having the shadow join as a Persona. If the conversation goes south, combat will commence. A new feature to the battle system is the Baton Pass, which will allow a party members to swap turn order with one another to better take advantage of weaknesses.

Persona 5 arrives on PlayStation 4 and  PlayStation 3 in North America and Europe on April 4, 2017.
