Publisher Little Orbit has announced an RPG set in author Brandon Sanderson's popular Mistborn setting. Mistborn: Birthright will be set a few hundred years before the Mistborn novels, but the story is being penned by Sanderson himself. It stars a young nobleman who discovers his magical ability just as he needs to fight off a grave threat to his family.

The most unique aspect of the upcoming RPG is that it will be adapting Sanderson's allomancy system into the game's combat system. In the Mistborn series, magic users consume small flakes of metal in order to enhance their physical and mental faculties. Mistborn: Birthright will be translating this system into the game, although we don't yet have many details about how it will work. There's plenty of time left to learn such details, as the game is scheduled to come out in the fall of 2013.
