Pokémon Ranger: Path of Light

A new Pokémon Ranger game was recently announced in Japan. It is titled Pokémon Ranger Hikari no Kiseki, which translates to Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs in English. Guardian Signs takes place in an island region called Oblivia, and stars the usual cast of Pokémon, including a ukelele-playing Pichu.

Unlike the main Pokémon series, the goal of the Pokémon Ranger games is not to battle with Pokémon, but to capture them using the DS stylus. Path of Light introduces a new game mechanic called the "Ranger Sign", which allows players to draw symbols with the stylus in order to request assistance from previously captured Pokémon. Pokémon summoned in this way can help capture new Pokémon or overcome environmental obstacles such as water and boulders.

Other new features include 4-player cooperative play and Wi-fi mission downloads. Pokemon Ranger: Path of Light is arriving in Japan on March 6, but no North American release has yet been announced.
