Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride for the Nintendo DS was released to North American retailers this week. The game is a remake of Dragon Quest V, originally released on the Super Famicom and first remade on the PlayStation 2. None of Dragon Quest V's ports or remakes have ever made it to North America before.

Dragon Quest V is the second DS remake in Dragon Quest's Zenithia Trilogy, the first being the already released Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen and the third being the upcoming Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie. Dragon Quest V is known to give the player a key choice that will change the life of the hero in addition to the outcome of the game. Dragon Quest V also introduces the monster recruitment system, allowing players to have defeated monsters join their parties. The game contains mini-games such as Bruise the Ooze, T 'n' T, and the Slurpodrome, and also lets players collect and customize knick-knacks, which can be exchanged using the DS's wireless capabilities. For fans of the series' popular music, Dragon Quest V features a brand-new score by series composer Koichi Sugiyama.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride is rated E10+ and has a suggested retail price of $39.99. RPGamer already has a review up, so curious RPGamers should be sure to read what our first staff reviewer thought.
