Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon will release in North America for the Nintendo Wii on July 8. Though the game remains unrated by the ESRB at the moment, it has been given a suggested retail price of $39.99.
Currently the game's official site is empty, though it does feature some splash art and a looping musical track from the game. Featuring the unique art of Toshiyuki Itahana, Chocobo's Dungeon stars Chocobo and Cid as they are transported to a mysterious town full of people that lose their memories each time the clocktower's bell tolls. One day a boy named Raffaello arrives and creates dungeons full of memories, leaving Chocobo to collect them for the townspeople.
In this title, Chocobo has numerous classic Final Fantasy jobs--such as Black Mage, White Mage, and Knight--to help him through his journey. Players will be able to search for hidden letters during their travels to create special phrases and unlock secret dungeons and job classes. The game features Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing players to pit themselves against each other in card battles with a 3D pop-up book style similar to that of Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales for the DS. There is also a Mog House that will allow players to test their skills through a number of mini-games, using the Wii controller's unique abilities.
