Square Enix, the company behind the Final Fantasy series, has made gaming headlines once again. The company announced today that it will be releasing Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift in North America on June 24, 2008 for the suggested retail price of $39.99(USD).
Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift is a return to Ivalice on the Nintendo DS. Previous Ivalice entries include Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Final Fantasy XII, and Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. The game promises to make the tactical RPG genre more available to gamers unaccustomed to the grid-based battle system.
Star features for Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift include Ivalice mainstay characters such as Vaan, Penelo and Al-Cid, and new jobs, classes and a new clan system. Also new to the North American release is the ability to control combat via the touchscreen during the game's 400+ available quests. The official website, with content pending, can be found here.
This time around, players will journey forth in the shoes of Luso Clemens, a mischievous boy sentenced to summer school for previous transgressions. In the school library, Luso encounters a magical tome that teleports him to Ivalice, where he promptly meets up with Cid and the rest of the gang.
