Dawn of Mana

After a long wait North American fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief as Square Enix has announced an official North American release date for Dawn of Mana this summer. For those unfamiliar with the series, Dawn of Mana is the long-awaited follow-up to Secret of Mana, originally released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993.

For a limited time a sampler disc containing soundtrack selections originally released only in Japan will be made available as a gift when purchasing Dawn of Mana. The disc, called Breath of Mana, will only be available at Amazon.com, Game Crazy, GameStop and EB Games. Also announced was the release of Heroes of Mana, another title in the World of Mana series, which is due out in late summer 2007. Dawn of Mana introduces the series to its first 3D experience while keeping the same feel and atmosphere of the original games. Fans of the original title will recognize familiar monsters and elemental spirits, but will be introduced to new characters and environments.

"The two latest entries in the World of Mana series push the boundaries established in past titles to provide players with a new gaming experience inside a familiar setting," said Koichi Ishii, creator of the World of Mana series. "Dawn of Mana sets itself apart from action-RPGs of the past as an action-adventure game with an emphasis on action while Heroes of Mana, a strategy RPG, introduces entirely new real-time strategy elements to the series."

Dawn of Mana will be shipping to North American retailers on May 22. For more information on this title, visit the game's official website.
