Namco Bandai has announced that the newest installment in the Culdcept series, Culdcept SAGA will be released in North America this Summer. The game isn't a normal roleplaying game, with most of the action taking place on a board-like field, players using cards to battle the tyrannical adversaries in front of them.

The story of this title features a script from one of Japan's premiere Sci-fi writers, though exactly who this is remains a mystery. Namco Bandai also boasts that top illustrators from Japan worked on the design of the cards used in battle.

The aforementioned story of Culdcept SAGA follows a princess and an unlikely hero as they battle tyrannical adversaries, trying to bring peace back to their country. In order to do this, players will be required to unleash powerful beasts to help them take control of strategic locations on the battlefield. They will need to continue assaulting their enemies utilizing magical cards to call forth these beasts, as well as to cast spells, until they have taken control of the entire playing field.

Another key feature of the game allows players to go on Xbox Live, or even just use a single console, to battle up to three others in a game of strategy. "Namco Bandai is proud to bring such a unique concept to the Xbox Live community." said Makoto Iwai, Executive Vice President and COO of Namco Bandai Games. "It’s the perfect blend of classic board games and modern competitive trading cards in one beautiful package!" Players are able to use parts won in matches to change their appearances, creating a unique gaming style.
