2K Games announced that it now has publishing rights to the action-RPG series Dungeon Siege which is developed by Gas Powered Games, and was previously published by Microsoft. 2K also announced that it intends to release an expansion pack sequel to Dungeon Siege II, called Broken World, which will be released this summer.

"Dungeon Siege II: Broken World picks up right where Dungeon Siege II let off," said 2K's press release, "with an all-new campaign mode, a new playable race, more items to discover, and a brand new multi-class character development system." As with most PC expansions, Broken World will require gamers to own the original version of Dungeon Siege II to play.

And in addition to the expansion announcement, 2K also said that it intends to release an all new Dungeon Siege title, entitled Throne of Agony, which will be released for the Playstation Portable this fall from developer Supervillain Studios. "Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony features all-new playable characters and a freshly designed, non-linear, single-player campaign as well as support for Ad Job co-operative and competitive multiplayer games," said 2K Games.

Tim Campbell, co-founder and project lead at SuperVillain, said "this title represents an important step for the Dungeon Siege franchise by extending it for the first time ever onto a new platform, merging together the incredibly rich legacy of the Dungeon Siege universe with a fresh, handheld-oriented gameplay experience."
