Arc the Lad: Generation

Namco Hometek, the North American publishing arm of Namco, has announced that they will be localizing and releasing the Cattle Call developed Arc the Lad: Generation in North America under the title Arc the Lad: End of Darkness. The title will feature improved upgrade and guild systems when it hits shelves in May.

"We are excited to be able to bring the long-running Arc The Lad series back to game fans in this newest installment," said Jeff Lujan, Business Director at Namco Hometek Inc. "With new features such as real-time action and the return of original characters from the series, this next episode is sure to be a hit with RPG fans everywhere."

Arc the Lad: End of Darkness takes place in the same world as Twilight of the Spirits though five years after its ending. Players are placed in the shoes of Edda, who is rather tired of his "boring island life." Life on the island soon gets turned upside down when a rude young woman named Kirika shows up. Later, while Edda is helping a hunter capture vicious criminals, the hunter is killed and Edda notices Kirika nearby, which cause his suspicions for her to rise. Once becoming a full-fledged exorcist upon his awakening, Edda becomes a hunter and takes it as his duty to venture out into the weakened world to save it from its destruction. The player must now take Edda on an adventure that will eventually play civilization against nature itself.

Cattle Call has created the first real-time battle system in the Arc the Lad series which intensifies all the actions that the player must complete to win in battle. Combos, equipping items, and casting magic becomes that much harder to accomplish when the player's enemies are breathing down their necks. End of Darkness unites 24 characters spanning the entire Arc the Lad series in what will become an epic storyline.

Another first in the series is online capability that allows up to eight players to participate in online battles. There is also a four player co-op mode online which allows players the chance to go through missions together to find rare items only available in these dungeons online. There are online exclusive missions, which adds to the luster that is online play, as well as the ability to chat online.
