Release Details for the Game Boy Advance
Game Boy Advance

On June 11, the portable world will change forever. That is the day Nintendo will release their new handheld, the Game Boy Advance, to the North American audience. The Game Boy Advance is the successor to the overwhelmingly popular Game Boy handheld series. With a slightly hefty retail price of $99.95, the Game Boy Advance, unlike the previous handheld upgrades, will completely change the expectations of a handheld console.

Impressive hardware is only impressive if there is software to use it. To back up their new software, Nintendo also announced that 15 games will be ready for launch.

Launch titles:
  • Super Mario Advance (Nintendo)
  • F-Zero: Maximum Velocity (Nintendo)
  • Army Men Advance (3DO)
  • ChuChu Rocket!(TM) (Sega)
  • Dodge Ball Advance (Atlus)
  • High Heat(TM) Major League Baseball 2002 (3DO)
  • Fire Pro Wrestling (BAM)
  • Fortress (Majesco)
  • Iridion 3-D (Majesco)
  • Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure (Majesco)
  • Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2 (Midway)
  • Rayman (Ubi Soft).
  • Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (Activision)
  • Top Gear GT Championship (Kemco)
  • Tweety(TM) and the Magic Jewel (Kemco)

While none of the launch games fall under RPGamer's coverage, Nintendo also announced that there will be over 60 games released within six months of the launch of new handheld. Games like Golden Sun and Fire Emblem could hit store shelves before the end of 2001.
