Black Isle Announces Mystery RPG

Black Isle, the developing and publishing offshoot of Interplay, will announce a new RPG for the PlayStation2 in conjunction with SnowBlind Studios one week from today, on Thursday, February 15th. Black Isle has confirmed that the title is already playable, but aside from that, they're not letting much else slip out; when pressed for information about the game, a spokesperson from Interplay replied only "It's a secret."

The most interesting part of this story is the number of highly successful series Black Isle is responsible for. Not only have they released Fallout 2, they are also responsible for a plethora of Dungeons and Dragons licensed games for the Forgotten Relams and Planescape universes, not the least of which is Baldur's Gate. Also included in their crop of games are Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment titles. One thing it will not be, however, is a part of the company's newly announced Matrix license. This still doesn't narrow down the possibilities very much, though, and curiosity will be riding high as Thursday draws closer. Expect RPGamer to follow this story as more information becomes available.
