12.30.01 - What the Forest Taught Me

Tomorrow begins a new year! With the new year, comes a new updater. Here's a quick letter from Ross to explain.

Hi everyone. I suppose you're wondering where I disappeared to... I had begun making arrangements to leave the site prior to my last update. Why? I didn't feel that I wasn't giving the Sound Cave enough of my attention to run it successfully. I just don't have a lot of time anymore.

In that interest, I am leaving the music position in order for it to pass to someone who has more time than I do.

PS. Cyfan was the only one who knew Pain The Universe was from Legend of Mana

So, after a over a year's hiatus, I've returned to fill in the void that his departure has created.

My name is Rob Parton, and some may remember me as Scarmiglion, and as the updater for the Editorials section a little over a year ago. Since most people don't know my music background or interests, I'll deal with those below, after dealing with the important stuff: This Section!

This section, over the next few updates, is going to have an enormous amount of restructuring, both visually and organizationally. The reason for this is that there is quite a few resources existing that are either difficult to find or completely hidden. Most of the individual game pages need some revamping. As well, I'm going to be contacting creators of previous submissions, since I'm working on a single information area about the submitters. If you've submitted, I urge you to respond to my request. This is all in the name of organisation. I hope you understand.

In the near future, I'm going to be implementing and re-implementing parts of this section that have been neglected over time. The top of the list are Soundtrack Listings and Soundtrack Reviews. If you have any suggestions for additions to this section, email me and let me know! I may manage the section, but it's filled with your work, not mine!

For the next few updates, I've decided to do something a bit different. Since it's a new year, the next few updates will be theme related. A single series, a single composer, whichever seems a little bit different at the time. Next update is mostly for catch-up. For next update, the Theme suggested was the composer, Motoi Sakuraba. He is the composer for the Tales and Star Ocean series. As well, he was the composer for Valkyrie Profile. Not to mention, he's my favorite! Weither you have some almost done sitting around, or wanted to try something new, get cracking!

If you have an idea for another theme, email me including your name and the theme idea.

If you've submitted anything in the last week, please resubmit. I know it's a pain, but email address juggling is a necessary evil.

Now that the important stuff is said, I just want to take a little time to let you know a bit about me, musically. For starters, I'm 22, and most of my music work is MIDI sequencing. I do some original works, but the vast majority of tracks I do are works of my favorite game composer (see above). I was in both jazz bands in my high school, as well as the school's wind ensemble band, where I played trombone. I live in the boonies of Central Ontario, Canada, where most of my time is consumed by working on the computer during the summer, and shovelling snow during the winter. Anything else is always available in my information page.
