10.07.01 - Ahead On Our Way
I decided to delay this music update from Wednesday to Thursday because I was really short on material
this past week.
It snowballed however. Here we are, early Sunday morning and the music update is just now being finished.
Anyway, in other news, Audible Vortex judges should have received info on where to get the judging files
and have had a chance to begin listening to entries. Judging for the contest is Anonymous, meaning
that a second copy of the music with all the ID3 tags have been removed and the files renamed were made
available to the judges. The original copies are untouched. Judging is expected to be finished sometime
around the 17th of this month.
In other news, I will have a fairly full week next week. You may not see the next update until Monday,
October 15th, the first day of my vacation.
Oh, one last note: If I make a comment below, it will have "Ross:" in front of it rather than "Ed:" like last
update. It's less confusing that way.

MP3 Remixes
"Fighting" (Final Fantasy 7) by Trptcox
Not much is to say about this piece -- I wrote it one Sunday when I had absolutely nothing t do.
it's short and to the point -- though if I were to really try, I could probably an excellent and lengthy
song out of it.
"Not Alone" (Final Fantasy 9) by Orkybash
It took forever, and I don't think I'm still quite satisfied, but I declare this mix finished. Its techno... I gotta admit I'm not sure what kind, but I was going for "trance".
Anyway, I'll cut to the chase. This is a remix of You're Not Alone, a song from FF9. It features ANOTHER delayed piano, some nice, though a bit standard, techno beats, and my first phased instrument,
a looped synth pattern! I don't think this is my best work, but its certainly worth a download.
"Beginnings Reborn" (The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy 6) by Ostin Drais
This was originally written as my entry for Audible Vortex. However, I
couldn't come up with a third tune that would work in the vein I was
in--specifically, opening title music--that I liked. By the time I decided
to throw in some random song, it was already too late: the contest was over.
I finally decided to throw everything together and polish (as much as I
could--some annoying pops are still there) for submission to the general
archives.

"Dissipating Sorrow ~ ST: TNG Ressikan Flute Theme" (Final Fantasy 9) by Salivator
Anyone who's been watching that Star Trek marathon on TNN might recognize a little part of this song.
There's a really beautiful flute theme in one episode, where Picard unconsciously lives an entire lifetime on an
alien planet within the course of 25 minutes. I basically took the ending part of that theme and stuck it onto the
end of Dissipating Sorrow, from FF9. Kinda neat, I guess. The only real reason I tracked this was because I'm having
some difficulties with the other pieces I'm working on right now, so I needed a bit of a diversion to let my mind
decompress.
Ross: This file is also available as an MP3.
