09.08.01 - The Flames At The End

The End? Yep, that's right. This is the end. For me, of course. The Music Section is staying. I just no longer have the capacity to run the section efficiently. I never even touched the archives, which I promised I was going to do. Ah well. Easy come, easy go I suppose.

I want everyone to pay real close attention to this next part. Ready? Ok, here goes.

THIS DOES NOT AFFECT THE MUSIC COMPETITION AUDIBLE VORTEX. AT ALL. EVERYTHING IS STILL GREEN LIGHT.

Everyone got that? Good. Submissions will no longer be accepted after this comming Sunday, the 9th, as stated in the guidlines. I leave the competition in Googleshng's capable hands. Senior Slime will now be responsible for last minute submissions and administration of the judging for Audible Vortex.

Please do not email me further submissions/comments/questions/concerns to the Nightside@rpgamer.com address. That mailbox is officially defunct. All of the above should be sent to music@rpgamer.com but you all knew that anyway. ... Just a forwarning. Email sent to the nightside@rpgamer.com address will not be answered since I no longer have access to it. Mail sent to music@rpgamer.com will not reach me either. So please don't try. Thank you.

I'd like to take a moment to extend my gratitude to all of the readers and contributors that have made my curatorship a welcome one. I'd compile a list, but I know I'd never remember everyone and leave people out and someone(plural) would feel bad.

But anyway, you all are the reason this site exists, so I won't bother extrapolating on my leaving. I apologize for the past months worth of inactivity with the Sound Cave, and for the imminent lack while the position is being restaffed.

Music Notes The following scribings are notes from the composers about their featured pieces in the updates. Their email addresses can be found next to their contributions, found below. MP3 Remixes "Marle's Wedding" (Chrono Trigger) by Trptcox Chrono Trigger left us wondering what happened between Chrono and Marle. Did they ever get married . . . or was there just romance caused by the adventure that they shared? "Marle's Wedding" follows on what could possibly be the wedding song of the queen of Guardia. "Mako Reactor (Club Mix)" (Final Fantasy 7) by FFMusicDJ this song is one of the most coolest songs in FInal Fantasy 7, it took alot of Synth to make it work, the remix is not like my other's (which are basically dance) this remix is basically a cool club mix, it is an real mix, so the music quality is awasome, it is very long ( about 7 min), which is something I never do. if you like pure techno, you will LOVE this remix. Digital Music "Beginning" (Castlevania) by Doby Gillis Real fun one to track. This was the first game I bought in the series (I rented one and two back in the late 80s but never got too far) and I fell in love with this piece. Me and my brother Tom used to hum the bass line. Hope you like my take on it. "Final Fantasy Random Battle" (Final Fantasy *.*) by Doby Gillis This is a piece I made with all FF2 samples. It has a vague Uematsu feel to it I think, but don't quote me on that. It only took like 15 minutes, but it came out better than anticipated. "Final Fantasy ??? Boss" (Final Fantasy *.*) by Doby Gillis After ? Battle, I decided to make a boss theme. Again, same FF2 samples, just different take on the music. I still have the standard FF Battle opener, it just isn't FF (ahem FF7 and 8!) without it, hehe. This one was over a course of 2 days. Hope you enjoy! "Tangent" (Final Fantasy 7) by Gwilym Wogan This is a by-product at one of my attempts at doing a song for the Audible Vortex compo. Every time I tried to settle into remixing a particular song, I'd take the tune off in strange tangents, so that it is barely recognisable. Then I turned it into something comPLETEly unrelated. Worth a listen, though. And the first person to e-mail me with the names of the two FF7 songs remixed in this wins a toffee. "Aya54mix" (Parasite Eve) by Gwilym Wogan ...radiohead are very quite good I think you'll find
