05.23.01 - The Last Rainbow Warrior Is Dead
E3 is cool. They need to hold things like that in Arizona, and when I'm on day shift. I got a grand total of 9 hours
sleep last week. That was bad, aye? Aside from the wandering around in a dead haze for a few days, that was probably of the
greatest thing I've done this year. The year isn't over yet, so I'm not giving it the "2001: This Was My Life" award just yet.
While a few complications prohibited me from scoring mad press kits and basically got me a bunch of cold stares from various
media reps when asking for said kits, I managed to play some seriously bad ass games. Ok, so maybe I spent a little too much
time playing non-RPG related games and standing in front of the Giant Konami Video Screen of Death(tm) gawking at the MGS2 and Silent
Hill 2 previews, I still managed to score some info on a couple of extremely cool upcomming RPG's.
Click the links below to check out my impressions of some upcomming goodies.

MP3 Remixes
"Frog's Theme" (Chrono Trigger) by Masamune
Well, here it is -- the first decent recording we've finished, it's Frog's Theme! With guitar, bass, keyboards, and bad synth drums. Fear it.
"Eyes On Me (Obsession)" (Final Fantasy 8) by Dani and CotMM68030
This was a collaboration project for another site, but I (Dani) wanted to see it on rpgamer.com as well. We chose Eyes on Me and began to pick apart what the song was really about: Julia's heartache over the fact that Laguna never returned. Hurt, sorrow, pain, and the anger... Why does anyone think this song is about Squall and Rinoa? 68030 of Children of the Monkey Machine is a genius when it comes to musical stylings (as he did all the music while I just nitpicked and helped with concept). I still find it amazing how well we were able to convey our points across to each other and then through the music and lyrics.
"Final Fantasy IX Intro" (Final Fantasy 9) by DJ JDA
Here's a remix of the Final Fantasy Nine theme that I completed on Friday.
If you like this style of music, there's some original music like it on my
MP3.com site. This song will probably only be available here (rpgamer),
since MP3.com doesn't usually allow remixes.
"Xenogears Micromix" (Xenogears) by Professor Andrew
It's a micromix of three xenogears songs in a kinda house/trance style. It
was created with fruityloops, soundforge, a keyboard, 909 drum machine, a
little bit of s3m tracking, a few samples I found on the net, and pieced
together with acid. Overall, a major ordeal that took *forever*. I hope it's
well recieved, as I worked pretty hard on it.
Midi Composition
"Unknown Castle and Menuet" (Dragon Quest 4) by Patrick Waters
This is "The Unknown Castle" (Zenithia) and "Menuet" (most other
castles). They both took about 2 hours each from
start to finish, but that's mostly because they both
are strings only. I don't really have time to do
others, but I'll probably end up changing my mind again.
Digital Music
"Chrono Trigger Playstation-" (Chrono Trigger PSX) by Mathew Valente
PSXMenu#.it were based off of the japanese Chrono Trigger Playstation
game, and were made a LONG time ago (last June and July) .. Things like
echoes and note accuracy were comprimised because I had to use an
emulator to remake these songs (I didn't own a playstation at the
time..) .. I built these songs around how they would play on the SNES.
The Playstation Chrono Trigger music is just horrid compared to the SNES
version's (and it's not recorded, like FF4's music was, which is
probably why it sucks so bad)
