THE CRAVE GAMING CHANNEL

Purpose of this page

Bahamut Lagoon is an SLG instead of an RPG. Its operating methods are different from those found in Final Fantasy or Secret of Mana. Thus I wish to introduce the basix inside this game, so that beginners can familiarize themselves with the game.

The Dragon Squad

Each Squad consists of not more than 4 warriors. At first, warriors with similar class will be grouped together. For instance, there's a group with 4 knights or 4 wizards. Starting at Chapter 3, you can mobilize your warriors inside your squad, but I won't recommend you to do so because grouping silimiar warriors together can get bonus attack power or mobility. Amoured warriors have SP, while wizards have MP.

Each squad also has a dragon accompanying it. Again, you can mobilize the dragons starting at Chapter 3.

Landscape

There're different landscapes inside the battlefield: Mountains, buildings, trees, grassland, etc. You can refresh your HP if you're inside a building (similar to Super Robot Wars, and so does the enemy).

If you cast ice magic on waters, the surface will be frozen and you can walk onto the ice. Casting fire onto the ice will make it melt. If your fire magic is high enough, the trees will be burnt if you cast fire magic on the trees. You'll lose HP if you're on fire. Casting ice magic on burning trees can extinguish the fire. If you cast thunder magic on mountains, the rocks inside the mountain will be broken.

The mobility of your squad also depends on landscape. Grassland, or other flatland, has the highest mobility. Mountains have the lowest.

The Program Menu

If your cursor is not on one of your/enemy's squad, press B to get the Program Menu. There's three options:
END THIS ROUND OF MENEUVER - If you don't wanna command your remaining squad(s) in this round.

TEMPORARY SAVE - You can save this round of maneuver. You can retrieve it if you choose Temporary Play at the opening menu of the game.

SOUND CONTROL - Studio, Mono or Silent.

Checking the enemy squad

You can move the cursor towards the enemy's squad to check who's inside and their mobility. The boss in the game will be marked BOSS. You may just beat the boss and finish the mission, but I recommend you to beat all the squad to gather experience points, items and $ (of course).

The Command Menu

FIGHT (if you're next to an emeny's squad): In this mode, you'll fight head to head with the emeny's squad. All your 4 warriors will fight with the emenies. You attack attack the whole squad or one of the persons in the squad. However, you'll also be hit by the enemies (unless you kill them all).
MOVE : Your mobility will be highlighted on the map. You can change where you go, provided that you don't give other commands to this squad.
AREA ATTACK/RELIEF : In this mode, you won't fight with the enemies head-to-head. Choose an attack mode/magic inside the menu, and the attack area will be highlighted. The enemy squad hitted by this attack will flash. Press A to confirm your choice. You won't be hit in this mode, but you can just cast one magic at one round. This is recommended when the enemies squads are packed together, because one attack will hit several squads. Also in this mode, you can cast magic to relief your other squads and dragons (refreshing HP, etc.)
DRAGON COMMANDS - COME (call the dragon to come near you); GO (call the dragon to go to attack the enemies); WAIT (call the dragon to stay and not to attack).
SQUAD - The squad menu will appear once you choose this. You can change weapons/armors, use items and cast magics to relief your OWN squad.
PASS - To pass this round.
NOTE : Your dragon will move once you've finished your command.

This ends the first lesson of Bahamut Lagoon. Let's go back.
