Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Like many gamers, I played the original Persona on the PlayStation and was less than impressed. The translation was really rough, the gameplay was slow and cumbersome, and the US version was missing a large side quest that was present in the Japanese version. So when Atlus announced that the PSP remake of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona was coming stateside, I needed more details before I could get hyped. After learning that this new release would come with the Ice Queen side quest intact, the gameplay cleaned and sped up, and a completely new translation changed my mind pretty quickly. This nearly unplayable game is now a fresh and enjoyable experience for those who tried playing the PlayStation version, but also to the new crowd of fans that picked up the series with Persona 3. Adriaan den Ouden, a new fan that didn't get a chance to play the original version, stated, "While it seems to be a fairly different experience from what the PS2 titles offered, the way it's shaping up shouldn't disappoint fans of those games either." Though this release doesn't feature the social links that many gamers fawned over in Persona 3 and 4, the demon negotiation and engaging story should be enough to wrangle most fans in. Here's what editorials curator Sam Marchello had to say about the game in a recent impression, "I had debated pre-ordering this title considering the terrible experience I had prior, but after seeing all the significant changes that have been made, I can easily see myself becoming engaged in the world of Persona again." And if that wasn't enough, Atlus is going to be sweetening the deal with the Atlus Spoils program.
