Fallout 3

Who doesn't enjoy the idea of an RPG set in a post-apocalyptic world? I don't know, but I can tell you that fans of the Fallout series enjoy it. This multiplatform RPG from Bethesda has been in the works for some time and seems to be shaping up for an impressive release this winter.

The extreme setting of Fallout 3 seems to be the biggest selling point of this game. Forum Administrator Jeffrey Cottrell states that "the setting, tone, and mechanics all look to be winners." The tone of the game alone is not enough to make a game exciting though. The game has to have substance as well, and gamers are trusting Bethesda to give them just that, much like they did with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Staff reviewer Glenn Wilson has his trust in Bethesda, claiming, "Fallout 3 combines my favorite PC RPG series with the best current western RPG developer. Both the Fallout series and Bethesda are known for their large, believable worlds, and nonlinearity. I cannot imagine a better pairing."

Fallout 3 is planning for release later this year for PC, Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 3. A collector's edition has also been announced to include not only the game, but a Vault Boy Bobblehead, The Art of Fallout 3 book, The Making of Fallout 3 DVD, and a special Vault-Tec Lunch Box. The humor in the face of nuclear devastation is just one of the keys to the success of the Fallout series.
