MMORPG developer Webzen has announced it is working on another massively-online game alongside a slew of other upcoming offerings. SUN is set in the medieval Empire of Geist that has been ruled by Immortal Emperor Schwarz for hundreds of years. The Geist empire has been harvesting powerful Ether energy from the land, but when that energy begins to run low, the Empire begins conquering neighboring regions to replenish its energy supply. SUN takes place during the war that ensues between the Geist Empire and the Guidance Rebellion and its leader, Ignis.
Webzen says that SUN will feature advanced normal-mapping techniques that will allow the game to achieve a "level of graphical detail [that] has been unseen thus far in an MMORPG title." Action-oriented battles will take place across partitioned fields, each holding up to 40 characters, and the results of battles in one partition will affect the outcome of battles in adjacent partitions. The game will emphasize customizability with many map types, difficulty levels, monsters, hidden missions, and economic affairs from which to choose. SUN players will also enjoy listening to an original soundtrack by The Lord of the Rings composer and Academy Award winner Howard Shore.
SUN is currently slated to open in late 2005. Keep checking with RPGamer as more information on this MMORPG is made available.
