It was, as usual, a beautiful sunny day in the Skycity of Bhujerba. The lovely white buildings seemed to sparkle in the sun, and the colourful flags strung up around town flapped gently in the breeze. Gruunda the Seeq stood on the steps of her small grocery store, idly chatting with the passers-by. There were some juicy tidbits of news going around, and Gruunda stored it all away. She was known around Bhujerba as one of the most reliable sources of salacious gossip, as well as one of the most attractive Seeq ladies in town. Her delicious bulk spilled out over the shopkeeper's blouse and skirt that she wore, and her nose- and ear-rings were fashioned of the highest quality platinum. Why she had not yet married a well-to-do Seeq merchant and secured her future instead of slaving away in her little shop, nobody but Gruunda knew.
Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, Gruunda saw a vision rounding the corner at the end of the street. It was a young human man, wearing a scandalous half-shirt that showed off his trim physique. His honey-blonde hair blew gracefully in the wind, and he glowed with youthful vigor. Gruunda sighed a heavy sigh, rearranging her bulk against the bannister, which creaked ominously. She simply couldn't resist young human men. They were so delicate, so energetic, so gallant compared to the lazy, self-serving menfolk of her own species. She longed to spend some quality time with just one of these young men, but they would never approach her. They simply didn't understand the appeal of a good Seeq woman such as herself.
The young man seemed busy attempting to introduce himself to everyone in town, flitting from group to group. Some responded well to him, others snubbed his approach. Oh, if only he would come this way! Wait... he WAS coming this way! Gruunda flared her snout attractively and batted her eyes at the young man. He had the bluest eyes she had ever seen.
"Greetings, ma'am! I'm..."
"Oh, so polite, so well-mannered!" Gruunda interrupted him, gushing. "Is there anything I can do for you, handsome lad?"
"Um, well, I'm trying to meet everyone in town so I can tell them..."
"Say no more! Gruunda here knows simply everyone in Bhujerba! Why don't you come into my shop with me, and we can discuss how you can help me help you?"
"Ah... sure!"
The aggreable young man bounded into Gruunda's shop. She jiggled in behind him, the silver coins on her seven necklaces and thirteen bracelets jingling merrily, and subtly turned the shop sign from "Open" to "Closed" behind her back. The youth was looking around the shop in awe, as though he'd never seen a general goods store before.
"There sure are a lot of interesting things in here!" he exclaimed. "I'm new in town, you see."
"Ah, you're one of those foreigners who just flew in, hmm?" Gruunda had heard there was a group from the surface in town, though most of the talk had centered on the exotic Viera who accompanied them. Gruunda had snorted. She didn't see the appeal of the Viera. After all, their ears stood up straight, not dangling alluringly within reach like a proper lady's. They were stuck-up overgrown bunnies, the lot of them.
Gruunda sat on the oversized loveseat at the front of her shop and patted the cushion next to her with a clawed hand.
"Do sit, love, sit down and Gruunda will give you anything you need."
"Ah, all right!" The blond youth looked a bit confused, but sat down trustingly. Gruunda gave him a grin, displaying her freshly-sharpened tusks and voluminous maw.
"Now boy, Gruunda will be happy to help introduce you to all the locals. I know who's who in this town, don't you worry. But first, will you do one thing for Gruunda?"
"Sure, I'd be happy to help you out! Have you lost a necklace? I'm good at finding lost things. Oh, also, I'm in a Guild! I can hunt a mark for you if you need!"
"Oh, no, that surely won't be necessary. It's just, would you be willing to give old Gruunda's ears a nice pet?"
"Um..." the lad looked confused, but recovered quickly. "Sure, why not?"
Stroking a Seeq's ears was a highly erotic act, one of the most intimate things a Seeq could to with another. Of course, the young man didn't know that. Gruunda felt a twinge of guilt, but it quickly left her. It would do the young man no harm, and she'd been so lonely, so very lonely. The young man reached out and gently patted one of Gruunda's ears. Electricity filled her, from tip to toe.
"Oh, it's softer than I imagined. I thought they might be rough and scaly," the boy said. Gruunda rumbled in amusement.
"Oh, some Seeq ladies don't take proper care of their ears, but Gruunda does, all right. Here, try holding it in one hand and stroking with the other."
He did as she instructed, and she leaned back and sighed softly, taking in the sight of his young muscles rippling below the cut-off of that bizarre shirt. It was the most erotic feeling she had ever experienced, though she knew that if he was aware that his actions were anything more than innocent, he would probably bolt out the door of her shop immediately.
After several long, languid strokes, he let go of her ear. "Ah, is that all you needed?"
"Oh, that was marvellous, lad, simply marvellous." Gruunda attempted to purr, but it sounded more like a snort. "Thank you for paying old Gruunda company." She dared to go just one step further.
"Would you tell me your name? I promise I won't tell anyone, or let word get out that you've been spending quality time with old Gruunda."
"Oh, no, please do tell everyone. I want everyone in town to know who I am, and you can tell all the other Seeq that I'd be happy to pet their ears, too!"
"Oh, really?" Gruunda wondered if perhaps the lad *did* understand the meaning of what he'd just done. After all, he'd had very deft hands and had pleased her so.
"Yes, of course!" He stood up to his full height, hands on his hips, and declared:
"I'm Basch fon Ronsenburg of Dalmasca! Be sure to tell everyone!"
Having finished his duty, the boy trotted out of Gruunda's shop, never to be seen again. The name of Basch fon Ronsenburg, however, soon became infamous on the streets of Bhujerba.
