   Feast!
Googleshng - November 23 '00- 2:00 Eastern Standard Time

Today's the day when everyone in America celebrates some fuzzily remembered even about some early settlers not starving to death by having a huge feast involving turkey. Speaking of turkey, it tastes an AWFUL lot better than chicken, so why do people only eat it today?

To buy or not to buy?
My brother recently went off to college and brought the Dreamcast with him. Now i see how enthuisiastic you and others are about Skies of Arcadia and Shenmue, and I'm wondering if its worth it to shell out the money for a new Dreamcast to get these games.
thanks,
)))Tempest)))

Googleshng:
I'd say so. SoA is one of the best games I've ever played, you're going to need SOME new console once the PSX fades off into the sunset once WD finishes with it, and you can't buy a PSX2 even if you wanted to. On top of all that, Grandia 2 will be out soon.

More about SoA
Well, I don't have SoA yet, and I want to know a little bit more about it before I sink my last little bit of cash into it.

1) Are you really enjoying it?

2) What type of battle system does it use? (I love FF9's battle system!)

3-4) How good is the story? Is it real deep and full of plot twists?

5) If you had to rate it, what would you give it?

6-7) Goog, why does everyone want to know your gender? What difference does it make?

Thanks for your time!

Googleshng:
Yes, I am REALLY enjoying SoA. The last time I enjoyed playing a game this much was Xenogears, and unlike Xenogears, SoA doesn't have slowly scrolling novels of text, a second disc which skips over stuff, and it's secondary machine assisted combat system is loved by all. As for the plot, well, it's not DEEP, rather clichéed in fact. However, it does have a large number of twists, and just really wonderful execution all around. Particularly during this one long scene where two of your characters are looking for the other two (and vice versa) in a very small town. So, on RPGamer's scale, I'd probably give it a 10 actually. As for your last question... you're just trying to bait me into quoting Flea aren't you.

AOL
"and there's a bunch of losers from AOL wandering about speaking L1K3 TH15, trading hentai links, and killing eachother. "

Dear Sir,

I would like to complain about that last column about people from AOL being losers. I myself have been on AOL all of my online life and have never once...*auggh* *splat*

Googleshng:
I didn't say EVERYONE from AOL fits that description. A lot of people I know use it in fact. I just mentioned AOL because it's the ISP most of the above described losers use, largely due to certain features it has, like IPs you can't block out and no way of reporting problem users.

Lunar 2 and anime (kinda)
Dear googleshng,

I just have a few things to get off my chest. I know a lot of people like Japan anime, but what about any US anime? I'm the type of person who loves any type of animation. I liked the Neon Genesis Evangelion series and I also like the Street Fighter V series as well as Escaflowne, but I also like US animated movies or tv shows like Men in Black, The Secret of NIMH, and Titan A.E. (Although the music in Titan A.E. is just plain weird and very techno sounding in my opinion.) Do you like any US anime? I also would like to say that if Working Designs continues to delay Lunar 2, I will go insane! Thanks for listening to my rambling.

Sincerely,
anime78art

Googleshng:
You know, a lot of people would be upset at the term "US anime", but by the technical definition, you COULD call it that, and yes, Japan doesn't have a TOTAL monopoly on decent animated shows, just near total (check the credits on a lot of those US ones). As for Lunar 2, it seems like it will be out within a week... and I still haven't gotten to FF9. Ack!

More on Lunar 2
Hello Googleshng,

I4m a long time reader (first time writer) and i would like to congratulate your job. Well done indeed!

I have two questions for you :

1.-Do holy cheeseballs smurf?

2.-Is Lunar2:Eternal blue complete, going to look like a saturn game or is it going to have improved graphics?,oh and another thing, when is it going to come out in the U.S?

Those were more like three questions intead of two but i think that4s ok anyway.

Thanks for your time ,

Gashtall

Googleshng:
Before I answer your question, let me just correct your error there. The Lunar series was not originally for the Saturn, it was for the Sega-CD, which in practical terms means they were for the Genesis. If they WERE for the Saturn, it'd be impossible to improve the graphics, because, as some people seem to forget, the Saturn is more powerful than the PSX, especially when it comes to 2D sprites. In simple terms, out of the N64, PSX, and Saturn, the PSX is half as powerful as the others, the N64 is great with polys but doesn't seem to like sprites, the Saturn is wonderful with 2D but has ugly polygonal graphics, and the PSX honestly sucks with both, but not as much. Thus we have balance. Now getting back on topic, Lunar 2, like the original, looks like a Genesis game with high quality anime cutscenes scattered through it. However, Lunar 2 looks like a much better Genesis came than the first did.

Good deal
Sega has announced that they will be releasing the Smash Pack for the holiday season. This Dreamcast package includes a Genesis disc as well as Sega Swirl and Virtua Cop 2.

Games to be included on the Genesis disc are as follows:
Shining Force
Phantasy Star II
Columns
Sonic the Hedgehog
Revenge of Shinobi
Golden Axe
Streets of Rage 2
Vectorman
Altered Beast
Wrestle War

These games will be presented in their original form. The Smash Pack is set for a January release at the price of $179.99.

Hellz yeah!

Googleshng:
Just to alleviate the confusion, that $180 DOES include the price of the DC itself, so that's a REALLY good deal... unless you already have a DC and a couple of those games like I do.
